How fitting that today -Mother’s Day- we see an image of a mother comforting her child, nursing, carrying on arm, and bouncing a newborn on her knees.
This is the picture Isaiah (66) gives of the child that will come from Jerusalem. It’s the people of God, whose salvation will come from Jerusalem.
From all around the world, God will gather his people to be comforted, nursed, and drink deeply from his abundance. At the sight of this great gathering, your heart will rejoice.
Why does Isaiah give us this image? He wants us to be part of it, and to be part of his world-wide mission to gather more people to come see his glory.
