Be subject to governing authorities

It might seem like a big jump from sincere love last week to submitting to governing authorities this week.

But it’s the transformed Christian life in view of God’s mercy (Romans 12:1). We are to live at peace with others and not repay evil (Romans 12:17–21), instead God has established governing authorities for justice (Romans 13:1). We know that God is loving and kind to us, and so we can trust his Word that governing authorities are for the common good.

Sometimes we ask ‘But what about… must I…?’ when it comes to government and laws. The Apostle Paul flips the question to ‘How can I show sincere love to others?’ (Romans 13:8–10).

Let’s support and pray for our governing authorities knowing they are part of God’s good plan for his creation. Look forward to when Jesus returns to bring in his Kingdom where there will be everlasting peace, righteousness, and justice.

In Christ, Tory Cayzer.
