The Lord’s Prayer is so familiar and well loved, that I wonder if we realise how daring it is to pray this prayer?
Praying ‘your Kingdom come, your will be done’ is asking to be part of God’s work on earth. That’s the work King Jesus begun on the Cross and calls his followers to continue until he returns to earth (Matthew 28:18–20).
It means making every decision and choice in life based on what is best for God’s Kingdom. That requires learning God’s will from the Bible, and doing God’s will from the Bible.
It means giving our life to King Jesus, and being part of his transformation of the world through the gospel… and it begins right now in our own heart.
Do you dare to pray this prayer?
