Amazing Grace

Amazing grace – how sweet the sound –

that saved a wretch like me!

I was once lost, but now am found,

was blind, but now I see.

I’m sure John Newton had in mind the Parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11–32) when he wrote the hymn Amazing Grace. As much as we love to sing it, let’s remember God’s grace is outrageous and shocking, it’s not fair. And so we need to regularly have our hearts tuned to God’s heart of grace.

In Luke 15, Jesus will tune our hearts to God’s grace. Jesus is the cardiologist we need to see.

Grace. Still amazing. Still saving.

Then we can serve God with joy and love, living in relationship with Him each day by his grace and for his grace. How sweet the sound!

In Christ, Tory Cayzer
