‘The Christ of God’!?

Bingo… Peter got it right; Jesus is the Christ of God (Luke 9:20). But did he really know what that meant?

Probably not. Because Jesus went on to explain He must suffer, be rejected, and killed. Hardly what anyone would expect for God’s promised King.

What’s more, Jesus then said ‘If anyone one would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’ (Luke 9:23)

Abraham Kuyper, Prime Minister of The Netherlands 1901–1905, said: “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”

Calling Jesus our ‘Christ’ means surrendering all to his reign. Let’s encourage each other to daily take up our cross and follow Jesus as Christ.
