Perhaps something we’ve lost in recent generations is the sense of God’s holiness. The magnificent old church buildings, the grand hymns, and higher church attendance, that emphasized our God is holy, there is none quite like him.
Nearly half the book of Exodus is devoted to the Tabernacle, where God is present with his people. Not only the large number of chapters devoted to it, but also the excruciating plans and rites for the Tabernacle emphasize that God is holy.
We can’t be casual about meeting God.
When we come to the New Testament, we are challenged to not be casual about our church meetings!
For now God dwells in us by his Holy Spirit. We are the Tabernacle or Temple of God.
And so how we love one another, pray, sing with passion, prioritize being at church to meet around God’s Word, brings glory to God and shows he is a Holy God. There is none like him. Let’s glorify God!
